Catalog Numbering Policy

Anatomy Steward uses two identifiers for catalog records: a visitor-facing Public Catalog Number and an Internal Record Number for future database, asset, and stewardship workflows.

Public Catalog Number

The Public Catalog Number is designed for visitor-facing interpretation and browsing. It identifies the collection area, subgroup, and sequence number.

Format

AS-[COLLECTION]-[SUBGROUP]-[SERIAL]

Example

AS-OST-SKL-0001

Internal Record Number

The Internal Record Number is designed for future database use, digital asset management, and collection stewardship. It follows a year-based structure that can later support virtual records, physical accessions, loans, and digital media records.

Format

AS.[TYPE].[YEAR].[BATCH].[ITEM]

Example

AS.V.2026.001.001

Record Type

V

Virtual teaching object record

P

L

D

R

Version 1 records are virtual teaching object records. They are not physical accession records unless explicitly stated.
